Grey Gull Leucophaeus (ex Larus) modestus

The Grey Gull (Gray Gull in America) lives along the west coast of South America.

It has a grey body and wings, a white head, black beak and black legs.

The head also turns grey in winter plumage.

Unusually for gulls, it breeds inland in Chile's Atacama desert, where there are relatively few predators but challenging conditions (heat and lack of water).
