The Sun Bittern is native to Central America and the northern part of South America. It is well-camouflaged in its
forest habitat and is a wading bird like bitterns (but unrelated).
The male Sun Bittern will display his colourful wing and tail feathers when courting or threatening rivals or predators.
The full display makes him larger and shows an "eye" on each wing.
