The Wrinkled Hornbill, also called the Sunda Wrinkled Hornbill, is native to the lower Malay
Peninsula, Indonesia and Borneo.
The Wrinkled Hornbill is threatened by habitat loss through deforestation, especially for the
logging trade.
The male, above, has a bright red/orange casque, pale blue eye-rings and a creamy-white front
neck/upper chest with an inflatable chin pouch. Both have black bodies and white tails.
The female, above, also has pale blue eye-rings but has an all yellow bill/casque, a blue chin
pouch and an all black neck and chest.
Like parrots and swans, hornbills pair for life.
