The West African Pied Hornbill is native to West Africa from Gambia/Senegal to southern Nigeria. It looks similar to the Congo Pied Hornbill, which overlaps its West African range and continues down to Angola and across to Uganda and of which, until recently, it used to be considered the same species (L. fasciatus).
