Blyth's Hornbill Rhyticeros (prev. Aceros) plicatus

Blyth's Hornbill, also called the Papuan, New Guinea and Plicated Wreathed Hornbill, is native to Papua, New Guinea, the Solomon Is, the Moluccas and neighbouring islands.

The male (above left and centre) has a blond head and neck while the adult female (above right) has a black head and neck.

The number of "pleats" on the casque of the bill of both male and female, up to eight, is the same as their age in years, chicks starting with none.
