The Lesser Yellow-headed Vulture is native to Mexico, Central America and northern South America. A colourful-headed vulture with blue and red skin on the head as well as yellow, it was split from the Yellow-headed Vulture in 1964, becoming the Lesser or Savannah while the Yellow-headed became the Greater or Forest. A large bird with a massive wingspan, it is one of the two smallest American vultures.
