Palm-nut Vulture Gypohierax angolensis

The Palm-nut Vulture is a mainly vegetarian vulture! It's main diet is the fruit of Oil Palm trees, although it will also eat molluscs, crustaceans, large insects and fish -- and has an alternative name of the Vulturine Fish Eagle. Despite its scientific name of angolensis, its range covers most of sub-Saharan Africa, mainly in areas where there are oil palm and water, including urban areas.
 
It is small for an African vulture, about the size of the Egyptian Vulture. Like the Egyptian Vulture, it has mainly white plumage with black wing edges (unlike the Egyptian, also black in the tail) and is the only member of its genus. It has bare, pink skin around the eyes; the juveniles have bare yellow skin (with brown wing edges), resembling the bare, yellow face of the Egyptian Vulture.
