The Philippine Scops Owl, Otus megalotis, is also called the Luzon Lowland Scops Owl, which can lead to confusion
with the Luzon Highland Scops Owl, Otus longicornis, both endemic to Luzon and adjacent islands.
The Oriental Bay Owl, Phodilus badius, is native to Southeast Asia. It is classified with the Barn Owl group of owls.
The Western Screech Owl, Megascops kennicottii, is native to dry, open woods
west of the American Rocky Mountains from Alaska to Mexico.
The Spotted Owlet, Athene brama, is part of the Little Owl family native to India and Southeast Asia.

The Collared Owlet, Taenioptynx/Glaucidium brodiei, also called the Collared Pygmy Owl,
is native to southeast Asia and is Asia's smallest owl at 15-17cm long. It has two dark patches on the back of its head which,
with the white collar, give the impression of a face on the back.
