Boobook Owl Ninox novaeseelandiae (also Ninox boobook)

The Boobook Owl (also Southern Boobook) is native to Australasia. It is also called the Mopoke and Morepork in New Zealand. (Boobook and Mopoke come from the owl's two syllable call.)

The small owl has several other regional names including Spotted Hawk Owl.
