Barking Owl Ninox connivens

The Barking Owl, also called the Barking Boobook, both after its realistic dog bark call, is native to eastern, northern and southwest Australia and Papua NG.

It is an agile hunter taking prey from the ground, from the surface of the water and taking birds and bats in the air.

It is a forest dweller and populations have declined to threatened status in some Australian states, mainly through habitat loss.
