The Western Siberian Eagle Owl is the palest of the subspecies of the Eurasian Eagle Owl, some
almost white, particularly on the front, but some a pale brown, reflecting the snowy habitat of much of its Siberian range,
including the Ural mountains across to northern Mongolia. (Two other subspecies, B. b. yenisseensis/ussuriensis cover
the Russian Far East through to Japan.)
Threats include climate change, habitat degradation and loss (by human activity), collisions with
wind turbines and vehicles and indirect poisoning through human poisoning of (mainly rodent) prey.
