The Bengal Eagle Owl, also called the Rock Eagle Owl and the Indian Eagle Owl, is native to the Indian sub-continent. It used to be considered a subspecies of the Eurasian Eagle Owl, to which it is superficially similar.

Mainly nocturnal, it will sometimes hunt in daytime. Prey is mainly small rodents but also includes reptiles, other birds and large insects.
