Steller's Sea Eagle is the largest sea eagle in the world, with a wingspan of 8 feet (2.4 metres); it is native to northeast Russia/China, especially Kamchatka peninsula, and north Japan.

Weighing up to some 9 kg (females; males some 6 kg), it eats prey as large as seals, arctic foxes, large salmon and geese.

Also called the White-shouldered Eagle, there is a rare dark morph which doesn't have white. Populations are vulnerable through habitat destruction, pollution and over-fishing of prey.
