The Martial Eagle is a "booted" eagle (feathers to its "ankle") native to most of sub-Saharan Africa,
excluding heavily-forested central regions. It is the only species in its genus. A large and strong predator of mammals,
birds and reptiles, it hunts from a height like Peregrine Falcons, rapidly stooping down on prey. Despite its large range,
it is classed as vulnerable to extinction, partly due to extermination by farmers.
