The Long-crested Eagle is native to woodland edges of sub-Saharan Africa. It is the only species in its genus
but consideration has been given to merging it with spotted eagle relatives.
It has a distinctive raised crest of feathers (reminiscent of the much larger Harpy eagles).
It has a dark and light barred tail and light patches on the wingtips, visible in flight. Diet can be any, mostly live,
prey but is mainly rodents.
