Mountain Caracara Phalcoboenus megalopterus

The Mountain Caracara is native to much of the Andes, from Ecuador to northern or central Chile. It breeds on high altitude rock ledges.

The adult male and female have similar plumage: a plain black chest distinguishes them from similar species (the Carunculated and the White-throated Caracaras). Juveniles are brown.
