The Golden-winged Parakeet has a dark golden-orange patch on the wing (not always visible) and bluish wing-tips.
It is darker green than most of the other "Brotogeris" parakeets.
It also has a bluish-green head and silver-green cheeks, similar to its relative the Tuipara below.
It is native to the northern Amazon.
Unusually for parrots/parakeets, most of which are vegetarian, Golden-winged Parakeets are said to supplement their seed and
fruit diet with freshwater snails in the wild.
The Tuipara Parakeet has a dark orange chin but is overall much darker than the "Orange-chinned" Parakeet
and does not have the bronze patch on its outer wing. It is native to northern Brazil and is a subspecies of the Golden-winged above.
Like the Golden-winged, it has a bluey-green brow, silvery-green cheeks and a darker green body colour.
