The Dusky Lory, native to Papua New Guinea and Indonesia, has yellow (above left) and orange (right) forms. Parents of either form can produce young of the other.
It is endangered in its native territories.
The adult Dusky Lory has a white or cream mid-back (orange form above) and orange beak.
The juvenile Dusky Lory has a yellow mid-back (yellow form above).
The adult Dusky Lory also has an orange iris. Male and female have similar plumage.
