The Musk Lorikeet, native to eastern and south-central Australia, showing the brush-tipped tongue common to all lorikeets for eating nectar.
The Musk Lorikeet is also called the Red-eared Lorikeet. It is the only species in its genus (others having been re-assigned).
In addition to the red "ears" and brow, they have red-tipped beaks and a yellow
patch at the side of the breast. The pale blue crown is less extensive on the female than on the male.
