The Austral Conure, also called Parakeet, as its name indicates, is native to the far south of South America.
It is the world's most southerly parrot.
It is sometimes called the Emerald Parakeet, leading to confusion with the Emerald Lorikeet.
"Have you seen the time?"
It has burgundy red over its nostrils.
"Who are you calling a nostril conure?"
Like its relative, the Slender-billed Conure, it has slight black barring on its crown, and a burgundy red face bar and tail.
It also has a burgundy red belly. Male and female have similar plumage.
