The Little Stint breeds in far northern Eurasia and winters in southern Africa and India.
It is named after its call which sounds like "stit".
It is often found in flocks of other waders such as Dunlin (it can't tell the difference either!),
but is much smaller than most other waders.
It has a black bill and black legs. Breeding plumage is darker and more rufous than the paler non-breeding plumage.
