The Great Skua, also called a Bonxie, breeds on north European Atlantic islands from Iceland to Norway and
including Scottish islands and coast. It spends winter at sea. A large, predatory seabird, the Great Skua robs other birds of
their prey and occasionally eats other seabirds.
The Great Skua is the largest of 3 northern hemisphere skuas and one of seven global skuas.
Many thanks to Marian Rastelli for permission to use her photos of a Bonxie that landed on her boat.
