The Green Sandpiper isn't green but has a darkish brown head, neck and wings speckled with
small white spots and a white undercarriage. The beak and legs are said to be greenish.
It breeds in northern Eurasia and winters in southern Eurasia/Africa.
It also isn't a "sandpiper" (Actitis/Calidris species) but a "shank" (Tringa species).
It is closely related to the Solitary Sandpiper but not to other Sandpipers.
