The Bush Stone-curlew, also called the Bush Stone Curlew, is a Stone Curlew native to much of Australia
away from human settlement, rainforest and desert. Its habitat includes woodland, open grassland and semi-desert scrub, both coastal
and well inland.
Male and female have similar plumage. They are mainly nocturnal. Their cryptic plumage gives good camouflage,
but populations have been decimated by introduced foxes and cats since the bird's defensive instinct is to freeze motionless.
