The Madagascar Partridge is, of course, native to the island of Madagascar.
The colouring of the male is similar to the blue-grey and red-brown colours of the male Asian Blue-breasted (Chinese) Quail.
In addition he has a spotted chest which he displays when courting.
The female has plainer, more camouflaged colouring with a scalloped chest (also similar to Chinese Quail
colouring/patterns).
They prefer to run from danger but can fly when necessary.
