The Ruddy-headed Goose is a shelduck (sheldgoose) native to wetlands in the far southeast of Argentina and Chile and to the Falkland Islands.

Unlike the related Magellan/Upland Goose, male and female of this species have similar plumage but they have different sounds: the male a short whistle and the female a throaty quack.
