Redhead Duck Aythya americana

The Redhead duck from North America is related to the similar-looking American Canvasback and the Eurasian Common Pochard. The drake has orange-yellow eyes rather than the red eyes of the larger Canvasback (black bill and angular head) and of the Common Pochard (has similar black-tipped blue-grey bill).

While the eye colour of the drake (above left) clearly distinguishes him from the Eurasian Pochard, the female Redhead (above right) looks very similar to her Eurasian counterpart.
