Hardhead/ White-eyed Duck Aythya australis

The Australian Hardhead Duck, also known as the White-eyed Duck, looks similar to the Ferruginous Duck (also called Ferruginous Pochard) to which it is related.

Only the drake, above, has the white eye. The wing edges are white bordered with brown.

The female Hardhead (above) doesn't have a white eye.
