Cackling Geese are like mini Canada Geese. They come from North America, breeding in Canada and Alaska and wintering further south. They are rare migrants to Western Europe. Originally thought to be species of Canada Geese, Cackling Geese were split into their own species in 2004 (US) and 2005 (GB).
Cackling Goose Cackling (above) are very similar in appearance to the larger Canada Geese.
Cackling Goose The adult Cackling Goose is barely larger than a Mallard.
