Native to the forests of Southeast Asia, the White-winged (Wood) Duck is one of the world's rarest
and an endangered species due to hunting of duck and eggs and habitat loss.
The body of the forest-dwelling duck is dark brown but its wings, when outstretched, have a large amount of white.
The head is white mottled with black, the latter with some iridescent green.
One of the largest ducks, it used to be thought that it was related to the (also heavy) Muscovy duck
but it has since been moved to its own genus.
