African Black Duck Anas sparsa

The African Black Duck is prevalent through most of sub-Saharan Africa.

The nominate subspecies shown is also called the South African Black Duck and is native mainly to southern Africa, south of Zimbabwe.

Male and female have similar plumage but males also have spurs on their wings, used for defending territory.
