The Green Wood Hoopoe, previously called the Red-billed Wood Hoopoe, comes from sub-Saharan Africa, from West to East to South Africa. It looks a little like a small, long-tailed Chough. Not very green and not a true Hoopoe, they are related to Scimitarbills and, more distantly, to Hoopoes. The Green Wood Hoopoe also looks very like the Violet and Black-billed Wood Hoopoes.
