Asian Blue/Blue-breasted/Chinese Painted Quail Coturnix chinensis
The tiny Blue-breasted Quail is also called the Asian Blue, the Chinese, the Painted, the Chinese Painted and the King Quail.
So many names for such a small bird. It is the smallest true quail. The male, above, has strong black facial lines on white and a blue-grey breast.
The female Asian Blue Quail does not have the white face, black facial lines or blue-grey breast.
Several subspecies come from India, southern China, much of southeast Asia and eastern Australia.
