Bobwhite Quails, also called Northern Bobwhite, as their scientific name indicates, come from the east coast of North America;
several subspecies range from USA through to Mexico and the Caribbean. They are also called Virginian Quails. The name "Bobwhite"
comes from their usual two-syllable whistling call, said to sound like "Bob White".
The male (above and top) has a strongly-marked black and white face.
The female (above) does not have the strong black facial lines.
A light variant.
The white Bobwhite is a bit over-exposed.
American quails are not closely related to Eastern Hemisphere quails.
