The White-throated Pigeon, also called the Metallic Pigeon, is native to Indonesia, the Philippines,
New Guinea and islands around northern Australia. As its name indicates, its plumage is a metallic green/purple with a white throat.
Male and female have similar plumage; juveniles are duller. Subspecies vary slightly.
Immediately above is the Philippine Metallic Pigeon, C. v. griseogularis, the sub species native to
the Philippines. The throat patch varies among some subspecies from shining white, pale grey and even dark/absent for the Lesser Sundas.
The degree of iridescence of the underside also varies from relatively dull (Fiji) to intense (Moluccas).
