Thick-billed Ground Pigeon Trugon terrestris

The Thick-billed Ground Pigeon is a terrestrial pigeon found in tropical and sub-tropical rainforests of New Guinea. Its thick bill allows it to open fallen fruit and seeds. (This is not the Thick-billed Ground Dove, Gallicolumba salamonis, which became extinct in the 1900s).
