The Chestnut-naped Imperial Pigeon is a distinctive subspecies of the unhelpfully-named Green Imperial Pigeon.
Imperial Pigeons are large, forest-dwelling pigeons with guts adapted for eating fruit without damaging the seeds so
they assist in dispersing the seeds. The Green Imperial has a large range over South and Southeast Asia with several subspecies.
The Chestnut-naped subspecies is native to Sulawesi and neighbouring smaller islands.
Male and female have similar plumage including the chestnut-nape. Populations are near threatened, mainly through deforestation.
