BOLLE'S LAUREL PIGEON, Columba bollii, also called the DARK-TAILED LAUREL PIGEON,
is endemic to a limited area of laurel and pine forests in the western Canary Islands.
There are two "Laurel Pigeons" endemic to the western Canary Islands laurel/pine forests: Bolle's/Dark-tailed
(Columba bollii) and the White-tailed Laurel Pigeon (Columba junoniae). Bolle's has a dark band followed by
a light band on the tail finished by a dark band, whereas the White-tailed has no dark bands. Both are elusive, but
the White-tailed is particularly rare.
Three Bolle's Pigeons are well-camouflaged in the photo above centre (taken at a considerable distance,
hence poor quality).
