Twelve-wired Bird of Paradise Seleucidis melanoleucus/melanoleuca

Twelve-wired Bird of Paradise
12-wired Bird of Paradise
The male Twelve-wired Bird of Paradise (above) is native to New Guinea and Indonesia's West Papua. He has a strange array of "wires" protruding from his soft yellow rump. When he dances to court a female, he raises his black neck-ruff and splits his yellow lower body plumage into two halves with 6 "wires" dangling from each half. The female has a rufous brown back, barred buff front and black head and neck.
