The plumage of the Oriental Turtle Dove, also called the Rufous Turtle Dove, is similar to the Eurasian Turtle Dove, but the head is more brown (less grey) and the breast is more rufous brown (less pink). Its range covers east of the Urals/Caspian/Arabia to Far East Asia. There are subspecies with regional differences within the range.

The Oriental has a white-edged black tail like the Eurasian. All but one shown are the Kazakhstan (meena) subspecies. Kazakhstan photos are from Alexandra Makhnina. She says the bird is a female. Male and female have similar plumage but juveniles are paler and don't have the black and white neck patch.
