The Barred Cuckoo-dove is one of several cuckoo-doves in 3 genera, all native to South and Southeast Asia.
The Barred Cuckoo-dove is native to subtropical montane forests across the region.
Cuckoo-doves are not brood parasites but are brown doves with long, slender bodies and long tails said
to resemble the shape of the Common Cuckoo. The Barred Cuckoo-dove completes the illusion with its barred chest.
Males have lighter, sandier chests and undersides; females have pronounced barring on the front. Both have green iridescent necks.
They live in small flocks.
