The Barred Cuckoo-dove is one of several cuckoo-doves in 3 genera, all native to South and Southeast Asia.
The Barred Cuckoo-dove is native to subtropical montane forests across the region.
Cuckoo-doves are not brood parasites but are brown doves with long, slender bodies and long tails said
to resemble the shape of the Common Cuckoo. The Barred Cuckoo-dove completes the illusion with its barred chest. Males have
lighter, slightly more colourful plumage and females are darker with more pronounced barring. Both have green iridescent necks.
They live in small flocks.
