The Madagascar Red Fody, also called just Red Fody and Red Cardinal Fody, is a weaver bird native to Madagascar.
In the breeding season, the male has a scarlet head, back and underside with black eye-rings (bandit mask),
beak and tail, light grey sides and belly and black feathers bordered with yellow on the wings.
The female is like a female sparrow. The nest is woven grass.
They have been introduced to other Indian Ocean islands.
