The Crimson Sunbird is native to tropical Asia (the one shown on the heliconian flower
in the rain was in Singapore where it is the "national bird").
A tiny bird (distance photo above also well-cropped), despite the bright crimson even the male is
well-camouflaged in its natural habitat. The female is olive-brown.
Like other sunbirds, it has a specially-shaped bill and a brush-tipped tongue to drink nectar from flowers.
