Hooded Pitta
The Hooded Pitta is native to Southeast Asia. Pittas are insectivorous ground-dwelling birds and one of the few birds to use a stone as an anvil to break snails' shells (as Song Thrushes do). It is a colourful bird with a red belly (top left), white wing patches and turquoise rump (top right - not usually visible) on its overall green body with black head.
