Tropical/Southern Mockingbird Mimus gilvus

Tropical Mockingbird
Southern Mockingbird
The more well-known Northern Mockingbird of North America has several counterparts in the Central and South Americas, one being the Tropical Mockingbird ranging from southern Mexico and the Carribean to northern Brazil. It is sometimes called the Southern Mockingbird which is confusing as there are several other "mimus" species of mockingbird in the southern hemisphere.

Southern Mockingbird
While the names "Mockingbird" and "Mimus" refer to the Northern Mockingbird's tendency to copy sounds of other bird and animal species as well as other noises, the Tropical Mockingbird rarely mimics other bird species.
