Red-winged Laughing Thrush Garrulax formosus/Trochalopteron formosum

The Red-winged Laughing Thrush (also spelled Laughingthrush) is native to southern China and northwestern Vietnam. Male and female have similar plumage.

It is closely related to the similar Red-tailed Laughing Thrush of Indochina and also has a red tail, but is much darker and has a grey head rather than rufous.

There are over 50 species of Laughing Thrush (Laughingthrush), vocal birds with the common name coming from their "laugh-like" call.
