Hwamei - Melodious Laughingthrush Garrulax canorus

The Hwamei, also called Melodious Laughingthrush, is native to eastern Asia. Its Chinese name of Hwamei translates as painted eyebrows referring to the white "spectacle frames".

As its alternative name indicates, it has a melodious song. It can also imitate other birds and, unfortunately, is a popular caged bird in Asia. Male and female have similar plumage.
