The Andean Cock-of-the-Rock is a cotinga native to cloud forests of the northern Andes in
northwestern South America.
The male, above, has orange plumage with black and grey wings and black tail and has an orange crest or quiff
on the head which almost covers the yellow beak. In the nominal subspecies (of four) the iris is white.
The female is brown with a small head crest and, in the nominal subspecies, has a light blue iris.
They are related to the Guianan Cock-of-the-Rock in the northeast of the continent.
Males are not monogamous and take no role in protecting eggs or feeding and raising young.
