The Indigo Bunting ranges from North America through to Central America/Caribbean; birds breeding in North America winter further south. The male in breeding plumage is wholly blue but returns to brown in winter, the wings and rump/vent being the last to turn; the female is shades of light to mid brown with light streaking.
