The Grey Partridge, also called English (in Europe)/Hungarian (in America), has an orange face, grey chest and striped flanks.
It is native as a resident breeding bird across most of Europe and much of temperate Western and Central Asia. It has been introduced
to North America and Australasia. Shown is the nominal subspecies P. p. perdix.
Breeding males tend to have redder colouring and bolder stripes than the females. Juveniles are plainer.
Outside the breeding season they congregate in small groups.
